2004 Annual DCDD Membership Meeting

The Annual membership meeting for DCDD was held at Mondays rehearsal on February 2. At the meeting, the latest status of financials and the coming years budget were presented. The Artistic Directors presented year-in-review reports for each ensemble as well as upcoming goals for each group. The fundraising reviewed the Time, Talent, and Treasurer segment of the membership handbook, and explained the importance of each member taking responsibility of this organizations continued well-being. If you have not submitted your dues and intent forms yet, please mail them to the DCDD address, or hand them to Jana Fry, the Membership committee chairperson. The meeting ended with elections for three positions on the DCDD Board of Directors.

New Board Officers

Congratulations to our new DCDD Board officers. Three positions were available for election at our annual meeting on February 2, and the membership has voted for the following; John Terry as Treasurer, Dean Reichard as At-large board member, Mary Arras as At-large board member (to be instated in June 2004).

2004 Proposed Budget and 2003 Financials
|
|
As presented at the annual meeting on February 2, the 2003 Financials will be made available on the DCDD website as soon as possible. Due to the change in Treasurer positions, the previous years financial report is currently being updated. Notice will go to all active members when this report becomes available. Also, the 2004 proposed budget was presented, and is accessible to all members on the DCDD website.

Fundraising Concert Series
|
|
The Young Concert Artist Series at the John F. Kennedy Center presents trumpeter David Guerrier. This young musician has already wowed audiences the world over, and is now coming to Washington, D.C. The DCDD Fundraising committee is organizing a concert and dinner to see this amazing artist. The concert is Sunday, February 22 at 2:00pm at the Kennedy Center Terrace Theater. Tickets are $35 and include a $10 donation to the band. Then join us for dinner afterwards to hang out with friends over food and discussion. Please RSVP by February 6, and pay by February 9 with checks payable to DCDD. Contact Jana Fry for more info.

Snow Day for Symphonic Band

Winter has been very cold this year and the snow and ice have had had their chance to cancel rehearsals. Therefore, the Symphonic Band will have a make-up day on Saturday, March 13, 2004 from 10:00 am until 12:30 pm, at Christ Church, 620 G Street SE, near Eastern Market Metro station

DCDD Color Guard

|
Things are looking like a lot of fun for the color guard. After last years popularity in this new performance group took off, this coming summer looks even more promising. Regular practice and meetings will be starting soon. Contact Richard Kalnins at garbeaudc@aol.com for more info.
