Save the Date - November 21st
Please mark your calendars NOW for our 2nd Annual DCDD Fundraising Tupperware Party! It will at the house of a member in Takoma Park MD, on Sunday November 21st at 1pm. There will be lots of cool Tupperware prizes for selling Tupperware, and even some just for showing up before 1:30pm! The band gets to keep FIFTY PERCENT of the SALES PRICE of whatever we sell. For example, if you buy or sell one item with a price of $20, the band gets $10!!! This is a HUGE deal! Last year we raised nearly $1,000 at this event and we can top that number this year. More details will be forthcoming in the next week or so, so keep an eye out in your inboxes.
Come play with us! Open House Rehearsal November 8th
If you've been thinking about coming (or coming back) to play with us, now is a great time to give it a try. We are rehearsing to perform holiday classics for a program in December that also includes DC Swing! Rehearsals are held at 7pm on Mondays at Reformation Lutheran Church, 212 E. Capitol St NE behind the Supreme Court. Parking available in the lot on A St NE between 1st and 2nd St NE.
Logistics Help also Welcome for Holiday Jam
If you've always wanted to help out or participate, but don't play an instrument or don't have time to attend rehearsals now, please consider helping out "behind the scenes" for our December 18th concert. We are looking for "front of house" help (tickets, concessions, ushers) and "stage crew" as well. If you are interested, please give us a call or drop us a line at 202-269-4868 or president@dcdd.org.
Tunes that Go Bump In the Night Redux
If you were there, you know this was about as much fun as you can get on Halloween with no candy. Wait.. there *was* candy! (And Elvii, and dancing, and did we mention fun?) The Symphonic Band brought down the house with renditions of classics such as Night on Bald Mountain, as well as some more "different" works such as Godzilla Eats Las Vegas and Time Warp. Even with the classics, such as Dixie Land Jazz Funeral, the DCDD Twist was well in evidence. Thanks again to everyone for their hard work on putting this concert together, and thank you to everyone who came out and had a good time with us.

LGBA @ Gay Games VII in 2006
Start planning now, because the Gay Games for 2006 will be held in Chicago, IL, and we are all invited to attend, perform, help out and generally be a part of the fun. They are expecting 200+ gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered musicians from the Lesbian & Gay Band Association (LGBA), plus cheerleaders from the Pride Cheerleading Association (PCA) and color guard units from the Righteously Outrageous Twirling Corps (ROTC). The cultural aspect of GGVII is being promoted with as much energy and enthusiasm as the athletic events. Our friends at Chicago Games, Inc. are working very hard to provide a memorable experience for every participant - athletic, musician, cheerleader, artist or otherwise! As more information becomes available, we will publish it here, but for more information now, please log onto the Gay Games web site at: http://www.GayGamesChicago.org/.
