DCDD Freedom Concert
From Our President...
Greetings members and friends of DCDD. I am honored to be the new president of DC's Different Drummers during its 25th Anniversary year. With all the festivities and excitement we are busy getting ready. We kick things off in our Spring Concert with Aaron Copland's Lincoln Portrait narrated by DC's own Gay icon and visionary, Frank Kameny. Marching Band Season looks to be more festive than ever before and DC Swing! at it's June dance, 'Pride Swings', should keep us all jumpin' and jivin'. If that's not enough, our fall concert will be a homecoming of old and new members alike. It will be a wonderful time to reconnect with old friends and reflect on 25 years of great music and terrific times. So, mark your calendars and plan on joining in on all the fun. A season like this doesn't come around every year.

DCDD 25th Anniversary
The 25th Anniversary Committee is working on the development of a commemorative booklet that will provide a history of D.C.'s Different Drummers (including Symphonic, Marching, Swing, and other ensembles). The booklet will be used throughout the Anniversary Year at all concerts and other gigs, including Pride Week. We are looking to gather as many historical band photos as possible to include in the booklet. We can accept photos in almost any format. Please send your photos to Dencil White, Committee Chair at dencil1@msn.com. You can mail original photos to Dencil at 8108 Timber Valley Court, Dunn Loring, VA 22027 or bring them to a future rehearsal.
DC Swing! Swings Atlanta in 2005
DC Swing! has been invited to perform in Atlanta with Atlanta's own Freedom swing band on August 20th, 2005. We are very excited to be going on our first out-of-area road trip. You will be seeing information on some fundraising activities in the near future. I hope that every member of DCDD will come to these fundraisers to help DC Swing! get to Atlanta.

Pride Swings!
Mark your calendars now! On June 4th, 2005, DC Swing! and DCDD will host a Pride dance (featuring the music of DC Swing!). This is a great opportunity to support our organization and have fun. It is also a potential big-time fundraiser for DCDD. We will be asking for volunteers to help with the planning and publicity of this event. What can we do now? Please start talking up the event to all your friends and family. More details will be coming soon.

Volunteer Opportunities Available!
DCDD has many volunteer opportunities available. If you have some free time or a valuable skill (graphic design, fund raising, marketing), please contact us! We would love to have you join our team as a valued volunteer. Welcome!
