|
Greetings one and all!
Welcome to the new members of the DCDD Board of Directors and congratulations to all who were re-elected to the board.
Officers:
- President - David E. McBee
- Vice President - Chad Koratich
- Secretary - Keith Glaeske, PhD
- Treasurer - Wayne Warwick
Elected to the Board:
- Jason Damaso
- Jeff Sturman
- Michael Vreeland
Continuing in service on the Board:
- Sharon Marshall
- Stan Goff - Past President
- Scott Baker - Artistic Director - ex officio
This will be a fun and exciting year and we have our work cut out for us.
My optimism that we can accomplish our goals for this year stems from the great service that Stan Goff has given as President over the past two years. His leadership along with Scott's artistic vision have positioned us well. Added to that is the work of the Board this past year, particularly the efforts of our Treasurer, Wayne Warwick in improving the quality of our financial records.
The Board has set Saturday, February 10, for a Board Retreat. The goal of that retreat is to identify work that needs to be done, the timeline for accomplishing that work, and finding folks willing to help. The retreat is open to all members of DCDD.
I look forward to working with all the members of DCDD to help us accomplish our goals for this year.
Cheers!
David

Quilt Panels - December 1, 2007
|
|
As part of this year's events is our second performance of Quilt Panels - for my love, for my grief, for my letting go by composer Robert Maggio.
The work was commissioned by DCDD and the Lesbian and Gay Chorus of Washington and premiered on December 1, 2003 at the Clarice Smith Center for the Arts at the University of Maryland.
This is a full-length work for mixed chorus and symphonic band and is inspired by The AIDS Memorial Quilt. Mr. Maggio also took inspiration from members of both groups.
This performance will be a benefit for the Whitman Walker Clinic that serves people with HIV, AIDS and other health issues.
We have begun our efforts to find financial supporters to underwrite this concert. So far we have received generous help from Brother Help Thyself and we continue to look for other corporate and private donors.
