From the President
|
Happy New Year,
It is that time of year when, like the god Janus, we look backward and look forward.
Looking back - 2007 was a great year for DCDD: parades, concerts, our Kennedy Center debut! Music, music, music!
If you are still looking to increase your income tax deductions for 2007, remember that DCDD is a non-profit organization.
- Friend of DCDD - $100 - $249
- Drummer's Circle - $250 - $499
- Conductor's Circle - $500 - $999
- Founder's Circle - $1,000 and up
There's more about the year ahead elsewhere in eNotes.
Two other items to note - we will be sending out a survey to our members in the next week or so to get a guage on how the membership thinks we ought to be going. It is important to get everyone's input on that.
Secondly, the Search Committee under the leadership of Michael Vreeland has been doing some excellent work toward announcing the openings for our three conductor positions. There is another meeting on January 5 and after that the committee will be ready to announce the openings and start accepting applications.
For the CPSB and DC Swing! conductor positions there will be an opportunity for members to rehearse with the top candidates and provide some input. We're not sure how things will go with applicants for DCDD Marching Band. We will keep folks posted.
Cheers!
David

Another important part of the afternoon will be our annual awards presentation:

Get your lip in shape!
|
|
Rehearsals for the CPSB April concert will begin on Monday, January 7. Don't wait until that day to pick up your instrument.
Below are some tips toward becoming a better musician.
Please set aside 45 minutes a week for practicing tough musical passages. Woodshedding at home makes rehearsal time more efficient.
Always take a look in the Lambda Room for next week's rehearsal list and sectional schedules.
Tuning...please use a tuner (see your section leader) and be tuned and warmed-up before rehearsal starts!
See you in January!
