Marching Band Open House

|
The marching band season will soon be here, and April is the month to begin the call for instrumentalists and color guard. The first rehearsal and Open House is Monday, April 21. For those who have never marched or performed in color guard, this season promises to be a blast. The Marching Band Committee will be meeting soon to select music, and DCDD’s very own Choreographer will put the saucy moves into the flag routines. Your High School Prom was never so much fun!

Get ready to buy that new gown and rent that tux because DCDD’s Swing Band is hosting its very own Prom. And yes, there will be a Royal Couple! So come out, and hang with the aristocracy until your coach turns to a pumpkin. This regal event is Saturday, May 17 from 8:00 ‘till 12 midnight. Location to be announced. PFLAG Gala Evening

DCDD’s Swing Band will be performing at this year’s PFLAG Gala. Selections of big band music will surely make for a memorable evening of dining and dancing. This event is scheduled for Saturday, March 29. Visit the PFLAG website at www.pflagdc.org for more info.

December First Project
|
|
DCDD and the LGCW Chorus continue to work with Robert Maggio in completing a commissioned symphonic work inspired by the AIDS Quilt. A partial premiere of two movements will be highlighted at DCDD’s Spring concert on April 4 and 5. Join the concert Band and the LGCW Chorus as they perform the first endeavors of this collaborative effort. The full-length work is to be premiered later this year at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center on the University of Maryland College Park Campus.
