Jazz Band

The Jazz Band performs at numerous venues in the National Capital Region, including in recent years at the Capital Hill Arts Workshop, DC’s Capital Pride Festival, U Street’s Twins Jazz, Eastern Market’s Mr. Henry’s, and Old Town Alexandria’s Torpedo Factory, along with other events, swing dances, and holiday concerts held in conjunction with the Symphonic Band. We have a particular love for the Big Band Era repertoire, and are available for hire at private events.

Travis Gettinger, Director

Travis Gettinger is a composer, arranger, performer, and educator currently residing in Montgomery County Maryland. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Bryn Mawr College. He has been teaching marching percussion and drum set for over 15 years, both privately and in group settings. He arranges popular and original works for a variety of musical ensembles, including pieces for the DCDD Marching and Jazz bands. In addition to teaching and arranging, Travis regularly performs in the DC area, playing with cover bands, jazz combos, and classical groups on percussion, piano, and bass clarinet. Travis joined DCDD as a member in spring of 2017, and is an active member of the DCDD Marching and Symphonic bands. Before becoming the director in 2022, Travis played drum set and auxiliary percussion for the Jazz Band.
